Menu for Week of April 19 – April 24, 2021

Pre-orders for our lunches and suppers are always recommended; as you know, we have a zero food-waste policy here in the kitchen, and Chef Casey personally shops for and hand picks every single ingredient for use in our kitchen, buying only what is necessary for that week’s menu and a bit extra in case of last minute orders. But that’s it…when it’s gone, it is gone. To avoid disappointment, please feel free to reserve your dishes early – not only does it ensure you get the meal you are looking for; it also helps with our meal prep and shopping trips. Please be advised that Fresh Market Kitchen will be closed April 26, 27, 28, 29 and 30, 2021 – we will reopen on Saturday, May 1st.

Nosh is Fresh Market Kitchen’s version of charcuterie to go – packaged in reusable and recyclable sturdy plastic containers, packed full of quality meat, cheese, housemade pickled veggies, fresh fruit, dried fruit…you get the idea. We are currently making 3 varieties – Meat & Cheese Nosh (GF), Vegetarian Nosh (GF) and Bagel Nosh (includes our delicious European cream cheese, homemade hummus and 3 mini bagels). Coming soon is a Breakfast Nosh From Scratch (homemade blueberry pancakes, housemade sausage patty and real maple syrup). Menu for Week of March 29 – April 3, 2021

This week marked the first anniversary of Fresh Market Kitchen being open in Selkirk, Ontario. Chef Casey and Caveman Rob would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came out for Cappuccino and Cake Saturday, March 27th helping us celebrate family style with style and all that we have accomplished at Fresh Market Kitchen despite Covid this past year. So a huge thank you for your continued support and encouragement. It truly means the world to us and our entire fantastic team!

Three-Day Beef Chili & Baguette

Our Three-Day Beef Chili starts with a 24-hour soaking for the dried Red Kidney Beans and Great Northern White Beans (we never use canned beans in our chili) and is made with fresh Ontario Lean Ground Beef and slowly simmered over two days. This is served with a freshly baked-in-store French baguette and includes sour cream, cheese and green onions to top your chili. The ultimate comfort meal feast!!

Menu for Week of March 22- March 27, 2021

This week marks the first anniversary of Fresh Market Kitchen being open in Selkirk, Ontario. What a year it has been! After months of hard work and determination, Caveman Rob and Chef Casey transformed what was once a hardware store and then a motorcycle shop into a beautiful and welcoming open kitchen. One could never have predicted that when Fresh Market Kitchen opened March 23, 2020, it would be in the midst of the chaos of a global pandemic. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Fresh Market Kitchen family is extremely proud to have a re-do and OFFICIALLY open our Market Kitchen to all of you and serve some cake and cappuccino. Indeed we do realize a ribbon-cutting ceremony is something normally reserved for a grand opening, but surviving the first year in any food business is challenging enough…try opening during a global pandemic! As such, we are going to take the opportunity this Saturday, March 27th to officially greet and welcome all of you (Covid-style of course please) into our kitchen, the way we had originally intended. We look forward to introducing ourselves to you and, most importantly, thank you personally for keeping our spirits up and allowing us to do what we love the most every day for the past year.

Aside from the two weeks Fresh Market Kitchen took a break for two weeks over Christmas, were you aware Chef Casey has designed a new menu every single week for the past 52 weeks, creating over 410 different menu items. We look forward to many, many more this year. No matter what has changed over the year through restrictions and constant changes related to the pandemic, the one thing that has remained constant at Fresh Market Kitchen is our commitment to producing quality meals made from scratch with zero food waste. We have explored many cuisines from around the world over this past year and reinvented some classic comfort dishes, and we hope you have enjoyed every one you have tried! We will be able to offer preorders IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE for your bagels, stuffed twists, bagel chips and cream cheese on our website for pickup from our Market Kitchen Saturdays, as we will be picking up our bagels on a Friday for the weekend rush. Menu for week of March 15 – March 20, 2021

This is going to be quite a celebratory week this week, and early reservations are highly recommended please! St. Patrick’s Day, Caveman Rob’s birthday and Fresh Market Kitchen’s First Anniversary are all happening this week! In honour of St. Paddy’s day, we are going to offer two meals for pickup this Wednesday! Firstly, we will be serving a Reheat at Home dish of Cabbage Rolls and SECONDLY offering a hot supper service of a nice warm bowl of homemade Irish Beef & Guinness Stew served with a wedge of house soda bread.

Menu for week of March 7 – March 13, 2021

Spring is so close, we can just about feel it! Warmer temps ahead this week mean it’s time to grab our frozen BBQ @ home packs of housemade Triple B burgers (beef brisket & bacon), Classic beef burgers (half-pounders!) and coconut curry chicken skewers. This is BBQ @ home from scratch made very simple!! Grab a jar of pickled asparagus or our classic garlic dill pickles – they are great on burgers!!

Warmer weather and easing up of Covid restrictions has also meant an abundance of wedding catering requests. Family Style with Style is how we roll at Fresh Market Kitchen. Chef Casey prides herself on the quality of her ingredients and the personal touch she brings to each and every meal. As you know, every dish we create is carefully crafted from scratch in our market kitchen. Depending on the number of people and the date, we have different options that may be available.

  1. Date-dependent, our planned evening meal would be elevated in a similar manner to what we have done on Father’s day and Valentine’s; this would be a kitchen cook for pickup.
  2. Private Chef: Chef Casey and her team are available for hire for the day. The menu will be personalized to your requirements, and your meal will be cooked live on-site where possible. This style is geared towards a more intimate setting of 10 guests or less.
  3. Steeltown Smokers, Backyard Tailgate:  This is normally reserved for larger events; Steeltown Smokers and their flagship smoker, the famous Cinderella, will setup camp and roll smoke thought the day, providing a continuous supply of smoked and grilled delights, tapas-style.

It is just two more weeks until Daylight Savings Time begins – longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures mean, for a lot of folks, it is time to reclaim their outdoor space and dust off the ole BBQ – Fresh Market Kitchen is pleased to let you know that our BBQ @ Home Packs have hit our freezers and are available for pickup from our kitchen. Our freezers are stocked with comfort food and love!! Soups, chili, crustless quiche, meat pies (now in two sizes!) and single and family meals. These may also be reserved through our website! We will be baking fresh bread for you to purchase Saturday morning beginning at 12 pm until sold out.  (Sorry, but no preorders for bread or cinnamon buns will be taken.)  We have also been turning our hand to making homemade cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting of late, and they are #betterthancinnabon We always post on our social media pages (facebook and Instagram) when these items are coming out of the oven, and it is first-come first-served from there.

Pickles, soups and quiches as well as any frozen meals from our freezer will be available.
