Menu for week of December 14 – December 19

I begin this week’s menu email with a full heart – we have filled the laundry basket for a SECOND time and will keep collecting until Christmas Eve in support of Selkirk Christian Chapel’s Winter Clothing Drive for those facing homelessness.  The second basket of donations was picked up this week and hand distributed, once again, to those in need.  You have all been so generous and thoughtful – THANK YOU!

Again, thank you for helping us fill a trailer full of recyclables in support of the Norfolk Shriners Club and the Shriners Hospital of Montreal.  The Shriners have picked one load of donations thus far and brought us another empty trailer, so please consider bringing your aluminum pop cans, beer cans, metal cans, glass and plastic beer, liquor and wine bottles (please no water bottles, detergent bottles, lube oil bottles or household & other garbage).  There are bins in the trailer that you can take to your house to fill and bring back to the trailer.

There is still the opportunity to pre-order Fresh Market Kitchen’s Christmas Charcuterie – an assortment of chef-selected locally cured quality meats and cheese with our very own housemade pickles and jam (2-3 servings/box) $35 + HST per box (does not contain crackers/bread). We are getting down to the last few that will be made available.  Email casey@freshmarketkitchen.ca to reserve one!

We are still taking orders for Fresh Market Kitchen’s “Decorate at Home Gingerbread Chalet” for pick up the week of December 14-19 and 21-24.  Our French pastry chef and his elves have been busy baking, creating Decorate at Home Gingerbread Chalets – no preservatives or artificial ingredients – it’s gingerbread you’ll actually want to eat!! Each Chalet comes with professionally-made icing and the candies to decorate.  We love receiving the photos you have been sending us of your children and grandchildren putting them together, decorating them and creating memories to last a lifetime.  Have a look at how our Local Artisan Elaine’s turned out!  Easy to put together, tasty icing and plenty of candies and pretzels to adorn your masterpiece.  $22/kit + HST.  Email casey@freshmarketkitchen.ca to reserve one!

This week, we will only be offering lunch Thursday and Friday and our Brunch on Saturday in an effort to do all of the necessary prep for the Christmas Feasts, Charcuterie and Gift Baskets.  We will, however, have soups, quiches and extra lunches available so that you could arrange to pick up our featured lunch meal for supper (you would just reheat your soup at home J).  The week of Christmas (December 21st) there WILL NOT BE LUNCH OR SUPPER AVAILABLE, but we will be open for last-minute shopping and purchase of our soups, ice cream and pickles to hold you over until we are back in the New Year.  We close Christmas Eve at 4:30 PM and will be back, ready to cook again, January 11, 2021.

“Boxing Day Has Come Early Sale” at the Local Artisan Market this Friday, December 18th!
As you now know, Fresh Market Kitchen’s Local Artisan Market has had a different featured Artisan every Friday and Saturday starting back in November, and this is the final weekend!  We thank you for shopping and supporting our Local Artisan Market.  You are supporting so many talented locals from the Selkirk and Haldimand County area! 

Nana B will be back in our Kitchen Market this Friday, December 18th from 12-4 pm and is offering a BOGO 50% on every item she makes!  That includes her storybook pillows and American Doll clothes so make sure you take advantage of our Boxing Day Comes Early Sale this Friday on all of Betty-Ann’s beautiful work.   Another of our artisans, Wendy of Just The Perfect Purse, is offering 20% off her entire inventory of cross-body purse styles, makeup bags, several sizes of organizers/pouches that are just perfect for not only travel but for everyday use, handmade earrings and zipper pulls as well as her husband Steve’s wooden candle holders and beautiful handcrafted home décor pieces. 

On Saturday, December 19th from 12-4 pm, Kim Bliek will be back one last time with her handmade greeting cards and many other items. This is your last chance this season to stamp with Kim and make a gift card holder. There will be a small fee of $2.

Wednesday, December 16, 2020:  No hot, live-cooked supper tonight.  Our freezer meals, soups, chili, homemade ice cream and cheesecake in a jar will be available for pickup from 11 am – 6 pm.  The Local Artisan Market is also open to shop for all of your locally-made handcrafted gifts!

Thursday, December 17, 2020:
